2008 Schedule of Events
Findley State Park offers
informative and fun summer naturalist programs for the entire family,
plus special events for added family fun!
28th Annual Winter Hike -
February 2, 10 a.m. - Enjoy the best hiking day and the best
bean soup, with the hardiest hikers in Ohio. Sponsored by the
Buckeye Trail Association and The Friends of Findley State Park.
Hikes includes a 10k, 5k and interpretive lead hikes. Meet at the
nature center in the campground. Bean soup is served by the
non-profit Friends of Findley State Park and donations are appreciation.

Easter Egg Hunt - March
22, 11 a.m. - Children 10 and under are invited to hunt for fun
filled eggs at the Picnic Point Picnic Area. A special section
will be provided for children under 3 years old. May even have a
special visit from the Easter Bunny. Free to the public. (View Photos)

National Trail Day - June 7, All Day Activities - There are even more
ways than ever to enjoy the outdoors at Findley State Park. This
day is set aside to showcase the different ways of taking a hike at the
park. Whether you want to mountain bike, nature walk, hike along the
water or just enjoy a game of disc golf in the woods this is the day for
you. Enjoy the many outdoor activities Findley has to offer.
Youth Anglers Fishing
Derby - June 14, 10 a.m. - Noon - The lake will
be stocked with hundreds of catfish for youngsters to catch for fun and
prizes, and sharpen fishing skills. Old pros will be on hand for
tips on bait, tackle and identification. Meet at the Picnic Point
Shelter. Free to the public. Regular camping fees apply.
Cruise-In to Summer -
June 22, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. - Join the Friends of Findley State
Park for their 3rd annual car show and cruise. Registration is
from 9 a.m. - Noon. Music, Food, Dash Plaques, Prizes, and much
more. Registration Forms are available in Cruisin' Times
Magazine and at the Park Office. Regular Camping fees apply.

Civil War
Encampment - July 4 & 5 -
Come see reenactments of
life and times during the Civil War, including an engagement
between Confederate and Union troops.
Fourth of July Root
Beer Float Social - July 5 - 1:00-3:00 pm behind the Nature
Center
Karaoke - July
5th at 6:45 - 7:30 pm will be for children 8 and under, 7:30
- 10:00 PM for 9 and over. "WOODSTOCK ROCK" will be behind
the Nature Center with prizes and giveaways including
T-Shirts, Glow Sticks and Beads.
Dog Gone Campout - August
1 & 2, - If your family camps with a four-legged friend this is
the weekend to do it. Games, crafts and demonstrations geared to
dogs. Help the homeless pets of Lorain County! Bring a bag
of pet food and you will be entered to win prizes. Should be a
pawsitively good time. Regular camping fees apply, call

Halloween Campout -
October 10 & 11, - Here are just a few of the high lights for
this weekend, movies, costume pet parade, family games, trick or
treating and the best hayrides and pot luck soup around. New this
year will be a scarecrow contest - call the park office for more
information. There will be plenty of fun, prizes and more great

Venison Chili Cook Off -
October 25, - Calling all cooks - participants must pre-register
at the park for this event. Findley provides the venison to
contestants on Friday. Contestants must return their entries for
judging by 1 p.m. on Saturday at the nature center. Can't
cook?
Come out and enjoy the judging and sample all the entries. Regular
